Secret Track Titles

I'm often asked about the meaning of some of the track names I use for my work. People are interested about how I come up with some of the rather odd sounding titles for music that is instrumental in nature. It's not like I can just use a line from the lyrics!

Virtually every title has a personal meaning to me. The words chosen connect the music to people, places, or events that have some significance to me. I have written tracks about specific people too, often using geeky anagrams for no reason other than to have a little secret no one else knows. "Unsafe Sooner" = "One For Suesan" for a co-worker, for example.

Here is a track from the vaults that has meaning to me. One friend thought the track title was a drug reference (?!?) but The Narrows (one of the locks on the Rideau system near our old family cottage we used to own) is in fact a place I spent a lot of summers growing up. Next week I hope to return to this place with my wife and son.

You can download the track here: The Narrows
