From the Archives - April 7th 2005

Without having access to the regular studio, I've been spending a bit more time listening to some older material.

Here is a track that sounds very simple, but is made up by many small parts that really shouldn't work together. I wrote it after rediscovering a book about contemporary Japanese art post 1945. Photographs were taken in Hiroshima in the days following the bombing of an unexpected artifact - shadows of everyday objects that where etched by the atomic flash. An obviously horrible juxtaposition of beauty and destruction.

You can listen to the track here:

Distractions

OK - It's been a while since my last post. The holidays were hectic and busy as usual, but the real reason for any lack of new musical activity is due to these guys here (see picture).

I've been to half a dozen home games, a few exhibition games and pretty much seen or heard every game so far this season. Going to a home game is a five hour time commitment, and some times I go to two games a week! Insane, but I love it.

I've been working on a few tracks, but they need a bit more work before I can call them done.

An update in regards to my last DJ set, the "Heart of the City" party held in December:

The St. Mike's Out of the Cold program was in need of a new clothes dryer for the people it serves in the downtown core, and thanks to all those who attended, we were able to buy one for them! In the end, thanks to some after-the-fact donations, we actually raised over $500.

Well done!
